  • Tiny Mix Tapes is going on hiatus indefinitely. The well-loved website made the announcement via Twitter today. Originally launched as a GeoCities page, TMT moved to its current domain in the year 2001 and inhabited a unique niche in the online music blogosphere. Operated completely on a volunteer-basis, TMT became an important incubator for various experimental scenes, including vaporwave, noise and deconstructed club. TMT's staff of writers, which included many operating under pseudonyms, were free to indulge in more abstract forms of coverage—various style classifications on recent reviews include Myst, "RPG defensive magical spell to dance to" and "humanist sludge." Similarly, TMT's end of decade round-up spotlights cassette imprints like Beer On The Rug and Hausu Mountain along with the likes of Warp and Hyperdub.
