London clubs Oval Space and The Pickle Factory go plastic-free

  • The neighbouring venues have pledged to cut plastics from the venue entirely. They estimate that "the effect will be drastic, replacing an average of 60,000 plastic cups and 3200 single-use plastic water bottles per month."

  • The clubs will also introduce a "green tax" to cover commercial costs, with remaining money to be donated to charities UKSCN and Friends Of The Earth.

    Oval Venues is also looking into other ways to make the spaces more sustainable: "Obviously, some aspects of our environmental impact remain outside of our control but recent initiatives, not least the transformation of Glastonbury this year, inspired us to start making changes ourselves."
