A set of 13 previously unreleased Patrick Cowley tracks is on the way through Dark Entries.
Mechanical Fantasy Box, due on October 19th, collects tunes originally made between 1973 and 1980, the years preceding the release of well-known singles like "Menergy" and "Megatron Man." Following a move to San Francisco in 1971, he'd contributed to a few hits throughout the late '70s, including producing Sylvester's 1978 hit "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)." Eventually diagnosed with AIDS, Cowley died aged 32.
Each of Mechanical Fantasy Box's tracks has been remastered from their original stems. A homoerotic journal Cowley kept from 1974 to 1980 and dubbed "graphic accounts of one man's sex life." Proceeds from the release will be donated to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
