- The album is accompanied by a new 360º animated score.
Björk has released a VR version of her 2015 LP Vulnicura.
Released on September 6th through VR platforms Stream and Vive Port, Vulnicura VR is a complete collection of the artist's VR videos made between 2014 and 2016. Prior to this release, the videos, which depict a digital journey through Icelandic landscape, were part of the international Björk Digital exhibition.
New to this album, though, is a 360º animated score by Stephen Malinowski. This means the sound in the headset will change depending on which direction the user is looking or what they are looking at.
"The whole process has been an improvisation, trying to keep faith in formats," Björk says of the technology. "It is too easy for musicians to turn pessimistic after CDs have evaporated, but I wanted to try to have courage to grow along with how 360º sound and vision tech was growing. With every challenge try to turn it into an additional gift for the ideology in the music."
