  • Japanese manufacturer Alpha Recording System is releasing a new rotary DJ mixer. The MODEL9900 is the company's new flagship mixer, a six-channel design constructed with "purist ideals with only essential features." Built in Japan to order, each channel comes with a three-band EQ and a post fader send, plus a three-band isolator on the master that can boost or cut all the way from +18db ? -8. All the switches and potentiometers are made in-house while a VU meter comes courtesy of Sifam. The main circuit board has also been constructed separately from the power supply in order to minimise noise. An Instagram post lists the MODEL9900 as costing between ¥580,000JPY and ¥700,000, which is roughly around $5,500 and $6,600, placing this firmly in the upper-tier of rotary mixers. DJ Harvey had a chance to use an early build of the MODEL9900 at Rainbow Disco Club earlier this year.
