- A report from VTM News claims that security checks for staff were poor.
Several Tomorrowland crew members have admitted to dealing drugs onsite.
Speaking anonymously to VTM NEWS, witnesses claim that some people took jobs at the Belgian festival specifically to sell drugs. (You can see the original article in Dutch at the link.) While security checks may have been rigorous at the event's regular entrance, they were looser for festival staff, which made it easier to smuggle in illicit substances. VTM NEWS says they cross-checked their initial report with other employees, who said the claims were true.
In total, 61 drug dealers and more than 400 drug users were caught at last month's festival, The Brussels Times reports.
Tomorrowland maintains that they checked their staff thoroughly before entering the festival. "We are convinced that this misplaced behavior of some crew members is very exceptional," a festival representative has said.
