  • Marcos Valle returns to Far Out Recordings with a new album this June. Sempre is Valle's first solo LP in nine years, following 2010's Estática. The second-wave bossa nova pioneer nods to his late '70s and early '80s work on his fifth album for the UK label, moving between "disco, cosmic samba and late-night jazz-funk." The record's lyrics recall Valle's work from the early '70s, "heralding love, tolerance and living in the present, while satirising political corruption." It was produced by Daniel Maunick and features Azymuth bassist Alex Malheiros, trumpeter Jesse Sadoc and percussionist Armando Marcal. Valle's six-decade career spans his own bossa nova releases, his work with influential Brazilian bands such as Som Imaginaro, O Terco and Azymuth, and a songwriting stint in Los Angeles during the 1970s. Since the 1990s, he's been releasing primarily with London's Far Out Recordings. In support of Sempre, which follows 2010's Estática, Valle and his band will tour Europe this summer. Listen to "Alma."
