Bandcamp has revealed a new service for crowdfunding and pressing vinyl releases.
The service will allow artists and labels to raise money in order to press vinyl, so that the manufacturing process carries no out-of-pocket costs or risks. The design, pricing and profit margins will be up to the label or artist, while Bandcamp handles the actual pressing, printing and shipping. You can see an example campaign at right. The American music service says they're working with a manufacturer with "over 60 years experience producing vinyl."
A pilot program has been launched for select records—check that out here. The service will roll out to all of Bandcamp later this year.
