- The Book Of Drexciya focuses on the duo's mythology, with some proceeds going towards James Stinson's family.
A new graphic novel series will focus on the mythology behind Detroit electro duo Drexciya.
The first instalment of The Book Of Drexciya will be finished in time for what would have been late member James Stinson's 50th birthday on September 14 of next year. The novel will flesh out the backstory behind the group's music and mythology, overseen by legendary Detroit visual artist Abdul Qadim Haqq—who designed some of the duo's classic artwork in the '90s—and his team.
The Book Of Drexicya has the full blessing of living Drexciya member Gerald Donald as well as Stinson's family. As part of an online fundraiser to support the book, 50% of money raised will go towards Stinson's family, who have reportedly experienced "hardships" as of late, including his mother. Those who donate to the fundraiser will receive digital or physical copies of the book, depending on the amount of money, plus various prints and posters. The goal is $10,000.
Earlier in 2018, Resident Advisor published a film about the mythology of Drexciya.
