- The UK house producer explores downtempo and broken beat on his latest LP, out in October on Phoenix G.
Mr. G will release a new album, A Part Of Me Vol. 2, on his Phoenix G label this October.
The UK producer, born Colin McBean, didn't plan to put out an album this year, but in prepping for a Worldwide FM show with K15, he started pursuing a different sound with a "jazzy edge" in the studio. "Month or so later," he says, "I had this body of work that seemed to go together really well, but more importantly I could now see the dots joining and my broad spectrum of music, for once, as super clear to see." The label says the 16-track LP explores "slower tempos, abstract sampling and broken beats."
A Part Of Me Vol. 1 will be released further down the line. When asked about releasing Vol. 2 ahead of Vol. 1, Mr. G laughed and said, "It exists... It will be the next album!"
