  • Mark Fell will release an album with Drumming Grupo De Percussão De Serralves, called Intra, this week via Boomkat Editions. As usual for Fell, the music draws on mathematical composition methods as well as non-traditional rhythmic and melodic systems. The album was performed by the Portugese outfit Drumming Grupo De Percussão De Serralves using the Sixxen metallophone system, a set of six microtonally tuned instruments originally conceived by pioneering composer Iannis Xenakis. It also draws on Fell's interest in Indian Carnatic systems of music-making, whose "mathematical sound rules are practically inseparable from musical expression in a way that's difficult to comprehend from a Western perspective," the label explains. There are no audio clips yet. Tracklist 01. INTRA-5 02. INTRA-8 03. INTRA-3 04. INTRA-2 05. INTRA-1 06. INTRA-7 07. INTRA-9 08. INTRA-6 Boomkat Editions will release Intra on June 15th, 2018.
