- After gaining publicity for a proposed series of synth clones, the company is presenting an original design.
Behringer has released images of a new synthesiser called Neutron.
While the German manufacturer has spent recent times publicly pushing plans to clone classic synthesisers, the Neutron appears to be an all-new desktop design. There's currently no official spec sheet, price or release date for the new product, but a video posted late last week shows a semi-modular design with a 56-point patchbay. There's also two Curtis 3340 analogue oscillators, a VCF, two four-stage envelopes, LFO, delay, overdrive, noise, sample and hold, slew and attenuation on board.
Meanwhile, Behringer's $299 clone of the Minimoog is yet to materialise, despite pre-orders opening in June last year. Back in December, the firm accidentally revealed plans for clones of a whole suite of vintage machines, such as Korg's MS-20 and Roland's TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines. Behringer later attributed it to a "website glitch" and said the images do "not imply any availability at this time or even definitive evidence that we intend to officially develop or deliver these products in the future."
