Roland will release software versions of their classic drum machines for the first time.
The TR-808 and TR-909 will be available in VST and AU formats for subscribers to the Japanese firm's Roland Cloud service. Roland says the virtual instruments were modelled on "detailed circuit analysis and design specifications [of the original hardware], including obsessive attention to the interactions and dynamic behaviour of the analog circuitry." They've also announced a plug-in version of the SRX Orchestra Expansion Board, which, alongside the virtual drum machines, will be demonstrated this weekend at NAMM 2018, the annual music technology conference in California.
