- Vladimir Ivkovic's label has brought together 11 tracks from the late Serbian-born artist.
Vladimir Ivkovic's Offen Music is putting out a double-vinyl album of '90s material from Mitar Subotic's Suba alias.
Wayang features 11 tracks from Subotic, an enigmatic Serbian-born artist also known as Rex Ilusivii. His work comprises a globe-spanning range of pop, folk and rock music with experimental electronic sounds and effects. He moved to Brazil in 1990, and died in 1999 at age 38, days after putting out his album São Paulo Confessions, when his São Paulo studio caught fire. The press notes for Wayang claim that if its contents had seen release around when they were first produced, "Mo Wax would have sounded frumpy and Warp would have loved to drop it for its fierce musical attitude." Neither a release date nor samples have been revealed just yet.
The album marks the third time Offen Music has released Subotic's music. The label launched in 2015 with the Rex Ilusivii compilation In The Moon Cage, and last year it released a recording of a 1983 Rex Ilusivii concert in Serbia.
