- The album interprets the photos of Friederike von Rauch.
Marcel Dettmann is releasing a new album called Marcel Dettmann presents RAUCH.
The record is an audio interpretation of photos by contemporary German artist Friederike von Rauch. The music itself was composed collaboratively by Felix K, Sa Pa, Simon Hoffmann and Dettmann himself. Dettmann then arranged and mixed everything to engage with von Rauch's architectural photos of European monasteries like La Tourette, which was designed by Le Corbusier and Iannis Xenakis.
Ostgut-Ton sub-label A-TON will release the record on vinyl and digital formats on December 1st. The digital version presents the work as a single track, while the vinyl edition splits it over two sides of wax.
The original images will be exhibited alongside the audio as part of an installation featuring in a von Rauch solo show at the Goethe-Institut Paris from November 9th to January 11th. Dettmann and von Rauch worked together on another installation called Ash back in 2011, while von Rauch's photos appeared on Dettmann's debut album and the accompanying remix package.
