- Transport For London has today notified the company it's not "fit and proper" to continue running in the UK capital.
Transport For London (TFL) has today informed Uber it will not renew its license to operate in London.
In a statement released this morning, Transport For London said the private-hire company would not be issued a fresh licence after its current one expires on September 30th. "TFL has concluded that Uber London Limited is not fit and proper to hold a private hire operator licence," the statement continues. TFL says Uber's "approach and conduct demonstrate a lack of corporate responsibility in relation to a number of issues which have potential public safety and security implications."
Uber has 21 days to appeal the decision.
Since arriving in London, Uber has become a popular service for clubbers in the city.
