- The remix compilation comes out in December.
Ryuichi Sakamoto is releasing a remix companion to his Async album in December.
The new record features reworks of tracks from Sakamoto's most recent album by the likes of Arca, Fennesz, Oneohtrix Point Never, Motion Graphics, Alva Noto and Yves Tumor. Composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, Canadian duo Electric Youth, S U R V I V E and Cornelius are also on the collection. Though all the remixers have been announced, the tracklist remains a secret in order to keep the LP "purposely in flux... like some elements of Async itself," according to the press release.
Async was Sakamoto's first major solo work since his diagnosis with cancer in 2014. For more on the album and Sakamoto, check out Aaron Coultate's interview with him from back in May.
Sakamoto is also hosting a competition for filmmakers via his website, where the winner of the best short film will receive a license to use a new and original piece of Sakamoto music for their next project. (The deadline for that contest is September 30th.)

Milan will release Async Remodels on December 1st, 2017.
