  • A live recording of Ash Ra Tempel Experience, a group headed by Ash Ra Tempel cofounder Manuel Göttsching, will see release next month on Göttsching's MG.ART label. Live In Melbourne captures Göttsching, Oren Ambarchi (drums), Ariel Pink (vocals and bass) and Shags Chamberlain (keyboards and synths) as they play together at the inaugural 2015 edition of Melbourne's Supersense Festival. Göttsching, whose original project was a key part of Germany's '70s-era krautrock scene, was initially booked for a solo set but was invited to present a collaborative performance with some of the event's other musicians. He got in contact with Ambarchi, Pink and Chamberlain with the idea to perform music from the 1972 Ash Ra Tempel albums Schwingungen and Seven Up. "Much to my surprise," he explains, "they all claimed to be very familiar with this music... It felt a bit like pushing at open doors—or, to put it another way, it felt like being welcomed with open arms." Tracklist 01. Look At Your Sun 02. Flowers Must Die 03. Medley: Downtown, Power Drive, Right Hand Lover, Velvet Genes 04. Schwingungen MG.ART will release Live In Melbourne on September 29th, 2017.
