- The new outlet, whose first record comes from guitarist Tim Mislock in September, will focus on music for "outside the club."
DJ Tennis and Michael Gracioppo have revealed details of a new label called Eraclea.
Life And Death co-founder DJ Tennis, real name Manfredi Romano, and Gracioppo, who's released on Innervisions and MCDE, share an interest in post-rock and ambient music. Eraclea will be a way for the two artists to push those sounds through records made for "outside the club." "We hope to offer a safe environment for those that wish to express themselves sincerely," Gracioppo tells RA, adding, "The name of the label is a dedication to someone special. Feminine and divine, a light of inspiration. She was born in the late 19th century, in the hills of Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily."
Up first on Eraclea, and due out in September, will be the debut album from Brooklyn-based musician Tim Mislock, Now Is The Last Best Time. A "guitar-centric ambient" release, recorded in 2014 and 2015 and produced by Dave Harrington (Nicolas Jaar's former Darkside bandmate), it's described as an ode to Mislock's mother and a chronicle of her time as the primary caregiver to her husband—his stepfather—who has Alzheimer's disease.
Mislock, who previously used the solo alias Abandoned Lighthouse, has recorded and toured with The Antlers and Holly Miranda, and he was a cast member in the Tony Award-winning 2014 Broadway revival of the musical Hedwig And The Angry Inch.
This summer has seen Romano co-found one other label, Life Of Marvin, and put out a DJ-Kicks mix.
