- Aurora Halal, Robert Henke and Rroxymore are also booked for the respected electronic festival.
MUTEK Montreal is moving to August this year, taking place from the 22nd through 27th.
The long-running experimental electronic festival, which has long held an emphasis on live acts, usually happens in the first week of June, directly after Movement in Detroit, but this year it's moving further down the calendar. MUTEK's 18th year, which it is using to "expand its program by a day and refresh its commitment to live performance at the intersection of music, visual art and technology," also coincides with the city of Montreal's 375th anniversary.
MUTEK says its "fundamental DNA" remains the same, and the first wave of the lineup is a mix of house, techno and experimental electronic acts. Among the bigger acts are Daphni, Robert Henke, Zip, Detroit Swindle and Aurora Halal. Also booked are Nicola Cruz, rRoxymore, Murcof, Mule Musiq boss Kuniyuki Takahashi, Harvey Sutherland and Sarah Davachi.
The venue lineup is changing too. In addition to big-room events at the Métropolis club, the more intimate events will move from the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal to the SAT, where MUTEK held its events in 2013. The run of free outdoor events on the Esplanade de la Place des Arts will expand to run the whole week from Tuesday through Sunday, while MUTEK's headquarters will move to the Monument National
