- The Japanese artist's first solo album in eight years comes via Milan Records.
Ryuichi Sakamoto will release a new album called async next month.
The 15-track effort will be Sakamoto's first solo album in eight years, and also the first since his throat cancer diagnosis in 2014. Mostly recorded in New York, async takes inspiration from everyday objects, sculpture and nature, and features field recordings from around the world, along with piano and orchestra, plus electronic sounds.
It'll be released through Milan Records, the label that also put out the soundtrack to The Revenant, which Sakamoto co-wrote with Alva Noto and Bryce Dessner.
