  • The KLF have announced a new book called 2023: A Trilogy. Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty released music under a few different monikers throughout the '80s and '90s. They were most successful as The KLF, a boundary-pushing electronic pop project that landed in the top ten of the UK Singles Chart on a few occasions. Drummond and Cauty also recorded as Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu, and are often remembered for their BRIT Awards performance in 1992 where they fired blank bullets into the crowd, then immediately retired. Last month, The KLF announced their return and promised new music via a cryptic poster hung on the wall of a street in London. Now, they've followed up with a book announcement. 2023: A Trilogy is due out at an unspecified date via Faber & Faber, though the listing has since been removed from the publisher's site. There's scant information out about its contents, apart from the cryptic statement they released today:
Down through the epochs and out across the continents, generation upon generation of the Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu have told variants of the same story—an end of days story, a final chapter story. But with one hope, even if the hope at times seems forlorn. The story contained in this trilogy is the latest telling. Here it is presented as a utopian costume drama, set in the near future, written in the recent past.  Read with care.
