  • Skepta has been awarded the 2016 Mercury Prize. The Hyundai Mercury Prize is an annual award for the best British album. This year's shortlist also included Radiohead, Anohni, David Bowie and Bat For Lashes. The UK MC and producer Skepta, born Joseph Adenuga, won for his album Konnichiwa. Jarvis Cocker announced his prize, and as Pitchfork reports, during his speech, Adenuga said, "Rest in peace David Bowie, rest in peace Amy Winehouse." Past winners have included James Blake's Overgrown and The xx's self-titled album.
