  • Ableton has revealed details of Live 9.7. The update, which will be free for all owners of Live 9, is in beta stage and will be released later in 2016. The updates are oriented around improving the functionality of Push 2 but the improvements are also available within the DAW itself. Key changes include new slicing functions in Simpler that allow samples to be chopped in four different ways—by transient, region, beat division or manually—and a new drum layout with velocity sensitivity in 16 preset levels. Sampling external hardware into Push 2 is streamlined by the ability to select ins, outs and monitoring from the controller itself, rather than on-screen. Pad colour can now be customised on Push 2, while visual feedback indicating the end of a clip has also been implemented. Watch a video with some of the new features being used.
