Fixmer/McCarthy and Perc play Even Furthur in Wisconsin

- The legendary Drop Bass Network is throwing a weekend campout and "family reunion" next month.
- Drop Bass Network will throw a three-day Even Furthur camping festival somewhere in Wisconsin over the weekend of Friday, August 19th. Drop Bass is a crucial part of Midwest rave history, having organized countless parties during the '90s and early '00s, including many under the name Furthur. This year's Even Furthur, presented with Communiqué and David J. Prince, will be the first Drop Bass event since 2003, and it'll celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1996 Even Furthur—which was headlined by Daft Punk—as a sort of "family reunion." It's set to run for 72 hours, from noon on Friday to noon Monday, at a location revealed only the day before, "approximately five hours or less from Milwaukee, Madison, Minneapolis." The festival will feature a main stage and, as veteran ravers might expect, a collection of smaller soundsystems, or DIYss, operated by other party crews. Atop the main stage program is Fixmer/McCarthy, AKA Terence Fixmer and Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy, and Perc. Rob Acid (Cologne's Robert Babicz) is another of the international guests. DJ Rap, Reid Speed, Drumcell, Frankie Bones and Tim Sweeney are all confirmed, along with familiar Midwest-rooted talent like DJ ESP (Woody McBride), Dustin Zahn and Miles Maeda. Among the many DIYss offerings are Come2Gether, whose lineup features Mystic Bill, Dar Embarks and Frankie Vega, and Stairway To Headphones, with Centrific and Mike Gervais. Admission to Even Furthur is open to those 18 and over. As a show of appreciation for the old-school heads, anyone 35 and over can secure discounted tickets. Attendees are advised to "come supplied for your entire weekend," and a BYOB policy will be in effect. Drop Bass's Kurt Eckes had this to say about returning with a new edition of Even Furthur:I stopped doing events in 2003. I never stopped wanting to do another event though. I made a few attempts, but I wanted it to be right. A real Drop Bass Network event. Not an EDM event disguised as a DBN event. The meant a lot of things had to fall into place and I guess if you think about it enough things happen because the pieces eventually came together... I was up for [organizing Even Furthur in 2016] and so was everyone else apparently. When it was announced, I knew the reception was going to be good, but had no idea it would blow up like it did. It's been a crazy busy past couple of months, but come August look out.
