  • The West Village townhouse that houses DFA Records is being sold. Since 1999, DFA has operated out of the building at 225 West 13th Street. Numerous label-defining records from LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture and the Juan Maclean came out of Plantain Recording House, the building's basement studio. It also hosted some of the earliest DFA parties in New York. Yesterday, Curbed reported that the townhouse is on the market for $16 million. The post lists a "kitted-out basement recording studio with three live rooms [and a] garage floor with parking for three cars," plus a "live/work space overlooking a patio. The top two floors give way to a proper living area with a full kitchen, additional production space (or a living room), and a bedroom." RA requested a comment from the label and received an auto-response saying that they are currently moving offices.
