- The new platter aims to merge "hi-res audio" with the vinyl domain.
Sony has released details of their new PS-HX500 hi-fi turntable.
The company made the announcement at the International Consumer Electronics conference. The turntable aims to offer high quality conversion of analogue vinyl signals into 24-bit WAVs or Sony's proprietary DSD format. While there's no word yet on pricing, the turntable should be available sometime this spring. The news comes off the back of Panasonic's revival of the classic SL-1200 direct-drive turntable.
