- The first EP, Edo Express, is a new effort from Tokyo Black Star, who are now a trio.
Alex From Tokyo is launching a new label called World Famous.
Alex Prat is well-known as a DJ and curator, and also produces as one-half of Tokyo Black Star with Isao Kumano. (The duo famously provided the very first release on Innervisions, and have also appeared on Deeply Rooted.) They've been silent since 2013, when they appeared on a Yohji Yamamoto compilation.
With Edo Express and the new imprint, they're making a comeback of sorts. The four tracks come from an early 2015 jam session at Kumano's studio. They were joined by Kenichi Takagi, who has since become the official third member of Tokyo Black Star, "bringing along some of his favorite old, new and handmade (modular) synths into the mix," according to the label.
