- The LA producer will release his first album since 2013 this November.
James Ferraro will release the Skid Row LP on Break World Records this November 13th.
Ferraro, a veteran of drone group Skaters, is known as a prolific underground figure, dropping well over 50 releases under a raft of aliases in the late 2000s. He would go on to form a close alliance with Hippos In Tanks, presided over by the late Barron Machat. Hippos In Tanks released his last album, NYC, HELL 3:00 AM, in 2013. Ferraro's latest LP comes courtesy of Break World Records and takes its name from the LA neighborhood containing one of the largest stable homeless populations in the United States.
Ferraro, who has lived in LA for a number of years, says Skid Row started as a collection of poems in the press release. He says "I was writing about the state of the world around me, living on what feels like the brink of societal collapse while also seeing high excess everywhere... all the sounds of the streets crept in… the echoing sirens in the early morning fog, soaked into the poetry and it became evident that LA is a hyper America. a place where violence (media and real life), excess and poverty, police exceptionalism & brutality, racism interact daily." The new full-length marks Ferraro's studio debut, implying previous efforts were recorded in more informal settings.
