- Sabre, Stray and Halogenix are also launching a new label with their first full-length.
Ivy Lab will release their first LP, 20/20 Volume One, on November 6th.
The collaborative project of Stray, Halogenix and Sabre was born out of a collaborative 12-inch for Critical in 2013, before the trio turned it into an official side project later that year. They have since released a handful of EPs as Ivy Lab for the UK label, but with their new full-length they're striking out on their own, launching an imprint called 20/20 LDN Recordings. 20/20 started as a club night in the UK, meant to "provide a showcase for the emerging landscape of sounds operating in the hinterlands between footwork, jungle drum & bass, hip-hop and future beats," according to the label.
Unlike previous collaborative work, 20/20 Volume One uses a "clan-style approach" where members work in different configurations under the Ivy Lab banner, instead of working on all the tracks together. The record also sees them moving away from a straight-up drum & bass style into more varied tempos. "We have no intention of turning our backs on drum & bass," the group say, "but we have such a huge body of music in this style that it makes sense for us to create a parallel platform dedicated to this movement."
