- The Seattle label's next batch of records lands in May.
Further Records will drop albums from Innercity and Strategy on May 25th.
The double-header release date follows a drone album from techno artist Rrose. You might remember Belgian producer Hans Dens, AKA Innercity, from his abrasive 2012 LP on the Seattle label, A Lion's Baptism, which we said was "improvisatory" and "accidentally brilliant" in a review at the time. ABABABABABABAS (Blue Lion Child) is his second record for Further, who say that this one makes its predecessor "look like radio friendly fodder by comparison." You can watch a video for "In Abra And Umbra" below.
"This release is surely one of my harsher, bleak ones," says Dens. "I tried to keep it pure, and again, bleak. Also put the keyboards in the shelf for this one—it's all guitar and violin through an array of effects."
On the same day, Further is also releasing a new LP from Paul Dickow, AKA Strategy, a Portland artist known for his take on dub and more experimental work. His Noise Tape Self leans on his ambient side, made primarily with tape loops. "I got really into [tape loops] and I got a four-track, knowing this would allow me to have four synchronized loops per tape," Dickow says. "I would then run each channel through a series of effects and 'perform' live mixes using the loops. I alternated between using source material of my own devising and using whatever source material happened to be on the cassettes I was hacking."
