- Das Macht Modern is due out later this month.
The Durian Brothers have a mini album called Das Macht Modern set for release on Kontra-Musik in a couple weeks.
A collaboration between longtime German artists Florian Meyer, Marc Matter and Stefan Schwander, The Durian Brothers employ modified turntables—without using records—along with effects units and a sequencer to craft a dense, churning sound they call "rough club music" or "rhythmic noise." Das Macht Modern is the trio's first full studio release outside their own label Diskant, home to a trilogy of EPs put out from 2009 through 2012. They'll be continuing their exploration of unconventionally-sourced but warm and danceable beats, with Kontra-Musik saying the mini album "lends itself to feverish fantasies about the explorations of ancient cultures and malaria-stricken jungle expeditions."
It'll come out on vinyl on October 27th, and a digital version will follow on November 24th. You can hear a sample of first track "Psychic Driving" below, and preview the others at the label's SoundCloud page.Tracklist
A1 Psychic Driving
A2 Weggeputscht
A3 Secession
B1 Oni Baba
B2 Offenporig
B3 Die Eisheiligen
Kontra-Musik will release Das Macht Modern on October 27th, 2014.
