  • Novation's latest product is the Launch Control XL. The company's Launchpad line for the most part focused on launching clips in Ableton Live. Launch Control XL, which ships next month, is still made for Live users. Its feature set, though, is geared toward mixing. It's still got a grid of multicolored buttons—eight in total—but much of the device's real estate is taken up by eight faders and 24 knobs. You should be able to get to work as soon as you plug it into your Mac, PC or iPad. To that end, the device ships with a number of preset mappings, but you can also make your own layouts. It also ships with Ableton Live Lite and a gigabyte of Looopmasters samples. You can see the Launch Control XL in action below.
    Novation will release the Launch Control XL in August 2014 for a suggested retail price of £159.99.
