  • Waldorf has unveiled its latest synthesizer, the Pulse 2. Synth aficionados may remember the original Pulse, which debuted in 1996. Like the original, Waldorf's sequel is a three-oscillator affair. It also boasts a number of new features, some of which are borrowed from the German synthmaker's more recent products. The synth's filter section features high-pass and band-pass modes along with the usual low-pass found on subtractive synths. Ring modulation is offered on the third filter, and two overdrive circuits have been added for some extra growl. Paraphonic and unison modes, featured on Waldorf's recent Rocket synth, let you play chords with up to eight voices. And like many recent synths appealing to the modular crowd, the Pulse 2 has CV and gate outputs, in addition to MIDI in/out and USB. You'll find all of this housed in casing geared toward desktop play. Waldorf's Pulse 2 analog synthesizer is now available at an estimated retail price of 461 Euro or $610.
