  • A collection of unreleased Vakula tracks called You've Never Been To Konotop-Selected Works 2009-2012 will come out on Firecracker Recordings in June. The album will be Mikhaylo Vityk's first full-length under the name Vakula, though he did release an LP last year as Vedomir. His album for Firecracker has been a long time coming, and his association with the Edinburgh label can be traced back to 2010. Selected Works 2009-2012 pulls together 12 previously unheard tracks, including one seemingly produced in homage to Amsterdam-based duo Juju & Jordash, titled simply "For Juju & Jordash." The title track is a reference to Vakula's hometown in the Ukraine. Press notes suggests Selected Works 2009-2012 focuses on the producer's "more afro-cosmic and experimental ethnic material," and combines "elements of Ukrainian folk melodies, esoteric cryptic rhythm patterns, field recordings, interludes and overgrown organic effects." It will be released on hand-drawn, silk screened triple-vinyl and CD formats, with artwork from Firecracker head House Of Traps.
