- The UK label will issue a new compilation commemorating Cajmere's 20th anniversary in October.
Strut will release Only 4 U: The Sound of Cajmere and Cajual Records 1992-2012 on October 30th.
Cajmere is the project of Chicago's Curtis Alan Jones, also known for his work under the name Green Velvet (as well as several other aliases). The early Cajmere material was stripped-back and raw house, made with cheap equipment, and in 1992 Jones founded his own imprint Cajual to release the work. Cajual not only released increasingly polished work from Cajmere and Green Velvet, but also acts like DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter and Glenn Underground.
Only 4 U will collect and highlight Cajual releases from its birth in 1992 up until 2005, with the first disc devoted to Jones' own productions (and his work with vocalist Dajae), and a second disc composed mostly of highlights from other artists. All of the tracks are previously released, though the digital version of the compilation (also released as a double-CD and double-LP) will feature alternative mixes. Both physical versions come with liner notes and rare photos.
