- The Berlin-based duo will release their debut album on Ostgut Ton this September.
Barker & Baumecker will release their first album together in September.
The two Berlin-based musicians have collaborated before, namely on the Candyflip EP for Ostgut Ton and the Murder of Crows EP on the same label earlier this year, which was actually two different remakes of the "Crows" that appears on this album. Barker released a solo EP earlier this year on his own Leisure System label, showcasing a sound leaning towards multi-genre bass music, and also produces techno under the name Voltek, releasing for labels like Tresor, while Baumecker used to run the labels Freu_nd and Freundinnen. The two are also closely linked with Berghain, the Berlin clubbing institution from which Osgut Ton is run: Barker runs a night there called Leisure System , while Baumecker is a resident DJ who's also done booking at the club.
Transsektoral packs in 11 previously unreleased tracks. Tempos and styles vary according to their creators' diverse backgrounds, and a press release claims "their ambition [was] to travel across the entire electronic music spectrum... reflecting different iterations of techno from all angles."
You can download an outtake from the album, "Analogical," for free over on the duo's SoundCloud page.
