  • Hauke Freer and Matthias Reiling have completed work on their first full-length as Session Victim. Over the past few years the Berlin/Hamburg duo have cultivated a deep house sound with adroitly pilfered samples of vintage soul, funk and jazz as its basis. The emergence of Freer and Yanneck Salvo's (AKA Quarion) Retreat imprint has been the principle platform for their music since their first recorded outing back in 2008. The name Session Victim has appeared on half of Retreat's ten 12-inches to date. Their 2011 track "Good Intentions," with its virulent Rhodes line and good-times feel, came in at #21 on our Top 50 tracks poll last year. It's also worth noting that Reiling has been finding low-key success with his solo output, releasing a pair of well-received LPs—Das Gespenst Von Altona and Doppelgänger—on his own Giegling imprint these past few years. The Haunted House of House will initially be put-out over three vinyl parts, with part one having hit stores in February. The constituent releases will then be collected on triple vinyl, set to drop in mid-May and followed by a CD/digital offering in mid-June. Aside from the aforementioned "Good Intentions," which appears here in a new LP version, all tracks from this project for UK imprint Delusions of Grandeur are previously unreleased. Tracklist 01.
