The bassist has moved on from the band, but will reportedly continue to work on music.
Beloved punk-funk gurus The Rapture will be taking tables for three going forward: The band announced late last week that Mattie Safer has left the group.
Safer, the former bassist for the band, was one of its most talented DJs as well, rocking afterparties and helping the group to mix up their 2008 K7 release, Tapes. The announcement comes on the heels of news that The Rapture are hard at work on putting together the basic tracks that will make up their fourth album. Keyboardist Gabe Andruzzi writes that "We've been working out of our little Brooklyn make shift studio, writing, demoing and jamming. I'm pretty damn excited to share the fruits of our labor with you. But its still gonna be a minute before we hit the studio for real." Safer, meanwhile, posted his thoughts to Twitter yesterday, saying that he is working on new music, but that he doesn't quite know what it sounds like yet.
In the meantime, the band will be traveling to Australia for dates in September and October as headliners at the Parklife festival.
