- The New York producer is set to release the follow-up to So Underground It Hurts next month.
Abe Duque is set to release his third album in May.
Entitled Don't Be So Mean, it arrives on the heels of a series of 12-inches that went under the same name. Fans expecting new material shouldn't worry, as only Liquid Liquid-sampling tech-house builder "Wake Up" has been previously released. That isn't the New York-based producer's only nod to classic NY sounds, however, as Duque also utilises the drum break of Raze's "Break 4 Love" on the rolling heads-down vocal house of "Following My Heart."
Even though he might sprinkle a few samples throughout the record, the sound on Don't Be So Mean is undeniably Duque's own, and is a refinement of the dark boompty style that he's been cultivating over the last five years. That said, there are a few surprises as well: The synth-heavy instrumental hip-hop of "Forever Untitled," "Why They Need Us" and "OFMA," should crossover with fans of the current "wonky" scene emanating from LA and Glasgow.
