Behringer plans to develop a range of Eurorack modules that won't break the bank.
Company founder Uli Behringer once again took to the Gearslutz forum to announce his intention to develop a "wide range of modules... at very affordable prices." The target price range is between $49 and $99 per module.
Behringer emphasizes this effort is for the people, by the people: "Many of our synthesizers such as Model D, Neutron, Pro-1, etc. have been designed to be used as standalone instruments but also to fit the hugely popular Eurorack format. Many of you have now requested for us to build individual Eurorack modules, powered Eurorack cases and especially bring back some of the legacy modular systems. At the same time we also thought about inviting all designers and engineers among you to participate in this initiative."
Behringer later posted renderings based on Roland's 100M modular system and solicited feedback from the forum user base. The renderings show a hybrid VCO/VCF/VCA module, an envelope and LFO generator and a CV/gate sequencer. As is sometimes the case with Behringer announcements, the products might never see the light of day.
It's not the first time a corporate manufacturer has tried to enter the Eurorack market, which is made up mostly of small scale, DIY companies—Roland launched the AIRA Eurorack range back in 2015.
