  • John Maus's next album is on the way. Screen Memories, Maus's first album in six years, was written, recorded and engineered at his rural Minnesota home. It was made following a period away from music in which Maus completed a doctorate in political philosophy, having spent the previous years touring in support of his most recent album, We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves. (11 tracks of philosophical synth pop, that record was among our favourite LPs of 2011.) Due out through Ribbon Music in October, Screen Memories is made up of 12 songs produced after Maus had built his own modular synthesisers. The LP's announcement also includes details of Addendum, a six-LP box set that features unreleased recordings, essays and photos, set for release in 2018. Watch the video for "The Combine."
