  • Artists and labels are pitching in to support Bandcamp's one-day pledge to donate all profits to trans rights organizations. Earlier this week, the online music marketplace announced they will donate 100% of their share of sales to Oakland's Transgender Law Center today from midnight to midnight PST. Over 200 labels are matching Bandcamp's contributions, donating some or all of their proceeds to TRC or other trans-friendly organizations. They include Cómeme, Dark Entries Records, Ghostly International, kranky, Great Circles, PAN, Amadeus, RVNG Intl., Hyperdub, Leaving Records, Mexican Summer, Room 40 Records, NNA Tapes, and UIQ Music. (Check out a full list here.) Several artists and labels have taken it one further, dropping exclusive releases for the day of advocacy. LA artist Urulu quickly pulled together a benefit compilation called Capacity of Color Vol.1, featuring tracks from himself, Seb Wildblood, Garett David and more. Check out full details here. Grouper released an exclusive demo called "Children" via her Bandcamp page that she notes was recorded during the sessions for her last album, Ruins. Leaving Records artist Yialmelic Frequencies (real name Diva Dompa) released a 17-minute ambient track called "Spores" to mark the occasion. Listen to Grouper's "Children."
