  • Night Slugs and Fade To Mind are putting out a compilation by Hitmakerchinx. The Brooklyn artist is a key member of Brooklyn's flex dance music, or FDM, scene. Shades & Monsters: FDM Classics collects his work from 2010 through to the current day, most of it created specifically for dance battles. The press release describes FDM as "raw riddims with chopped up vocals, piercing laser bleeps and heavy, aggressive drums." "This is a collection of the music that started everything for me," says Hitmakerchinx. "Night Slugs and Fade To Mind are the reason that I DJ, they perceived my sound in a new way and they're responsible for bringing my music into a club environment. I've learned to love my old material again." Hitmakerchinx first came to the attention of Fade To Mind DJs Total Freedom and Massacooramaan with his track "Earthquake", which was featured in the film Step Up: All In. He also joined Rihanna on her ANTI tour as a stage dancer. Night Slugs will throw a launch party in collaboration with Radar Radio on July 22nd at Five Miles, where Bok Bok, Sweyn J, Manara and 2SHIN will play alongside Hitmakerchinx. There's no word on a tracklist yet, but for now, listen to his edit of "Wild Thoughts," by DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller.
Night Slugs and Fade To Mind will release Shades & Monsters: FDM Classics on July 21st, 2017.
