  • RA and Salt + Sass are working together on a new run of podcasts and public events. Salt + Sass is a Berlin-based initiative, run by Kat Young and Elissa Stolman, that hosts public conversations with women working in the electronic music industry. Taking place at SoundCloud's offices, the event is free to attend and has previously featured Avalon Emerson (who we recently profiled), Sasha Perera, the respected publicist Melissa Taylor and Qzen, a Berlin stalwart whose talk was released as an Exchange back in 2015. The upcoming events, which will take place quarterly, will be recorded and presented as part of RA's Exchange podcast series. The first instalment of 2017, on January 31st, is a discussion with Unsound Festival's executive director Gosia Plysa. Since 2006, Plysa has developed Unsound with Matt Schulz into an internationally renowned outfit that runs acclaimed festivals and events in its home base of Kraków, as well as in cities like London, Tbilisi, New York, Minsk, Adelaide, Batumi, Toronto and Bishkek. Unsound regularly features the best in experimental electronic music and beyond. The talk will be moderated by RA contributor Lisa Blanning and will cover Plysa's experience of building Unsound from a marginal DIY operation into one of the most significant dates on the electronic music calendar. Tickets can be secured here and further information is available on the Salt + Sass Facebook event page. Expect the Exchange to drop in early February.
