- A gem from the late-'90s UK underground scene is resurfacing via Subwax Excursions.
A full vinyl issue of Hidden Emotion, the 1997 full-length from UK producer Future Beat Alliance, is on the way.
Hidden Emotion was one of Matthew Puffett's first works as Future Beat Alliance, a project with a warm, soulful sound incorporating techno, downtempo, IDM and electro. Like the rest of his early output, it was planned for a release on Void Records, but in 1997 the label would press only a limited amount of white-label promo vinyl; according to a post on Discogs, its full release was cancelled when Void went out of business that year.
Now considered a cult classic, Hidden Emotion appeared on CD through Exalt Records in 2008, but it's taken nearly two decades to get it put on wax for the masses. (Puffett, meanwhile, has gone on to craft records for labels including Delsin, Tresor, Rush Hour and Versatile.) Taking on the task is Subwax Excursions, an offshoot of Barcelona label Subwax Bcn. We've been told the vinyl will arrive next month, but a date hasn't been confirmed.
This album endeavor is the second for Subwax Excursions, after it handled the 2013 release of Orlando Voorn's Divine Intervention LP. Meanwhile, Subwax Bcn itself is gearing up to put out a new Fluxion full-length, Vibrant Forms III.
