The owner of Brooklyn dance spot Bossa Nova Civic Club is planning a new nightlife venture in Williamsburg, DNAinfo reports.
Bossa Nova Civic Club's John Barclay submitted an application for a liquor license at 198 Randolph St. in Williamsburg last Wednesday. He's planning a 1300-capacity live music hall, dance club and restaurant, which will be built into a warehouse in the neighborhood's eastern industrial stretch. It's slated to stay open until 6 AM on weekends.
Barclay hasn't revealed many other details about the business, and declined RA's request for comment until he's sorted out the permitting process. The site is only a block away from the troubled pop-up club Brooklyn Mirage, which drew the ire of both police and the community board this spring by serving alcohol without a permit. Another new venue, Elsewhere, run by the former owners of Glasslands, is also in the works in an adjacent building.
