The crew behind popular Glastonbury spot Block9 have revealed plans to open a touring pop-up space that'll likely launch in London.
Speaking to DJ Mag, Block9's Stephen Gallagher said the pop-up venture would be an art installation meets music space. "We'd love it to be on the Southbank, or the Royal Docks [in Newham]," he told DJ Mag. "That's an area that is going through a massive change at the moment, which fits the stuff that we do."
In a separate interview with RA, Gallagher said he imagined the space would come to fruition in "a few year's time," adding: "It's like a sort of NYC Downlow plus London Underground plus Genosys on steroids, a massive fuck-off musical experience that we'll tour internationally, but starting probably in London."
Block9 is a magnet for dance music fans at Glastonbury. In his review of this year's edition, Will Lynch said the area "had the most impressive production I've seen at any festival by a mile—the result of weeks of work and a whopping 700-person staff." Block9 consists of three distinct clubs: Genosys, London Underground and NYC Downlow.
