  • Music From Memory will release its first 12-inch in July. The Amsterdam label has proven to be a valuable resource for obscure early electronic music, having released retrospectives from the likes of Vito Ricci and Gigi Masin in the past year (as well as a new LP from Gaussian Curve). Their latest move is a series of 12-inches, which launches with Geomancy / Night, comprising two tracks from San Francisco artist Joel Graham that date back to 1982. Graham self-released two cassettes in the mid-'80s, but this music goes back even further, recorded on pre-MIDI equipment as a practice outline for a later live performance. Describing it as "slowly unravelling and deeply hypnotic," the label says the EP "provokes much of the same sensibilities found in both contemporary dance music as well as in works of more established vanguard artists of the time." You can stream clips of both sides below. Music From Memory are also hard at work at sourcing another retrospective compilation, this time from Philadelphia artist Napoleon Cherry, AKA Cool Waters.
