Arkist & Kidkut - One Year Later

  • Those familiar with Arkist and Kidkut's prior solo effortsïKidkut's ravey roller "Get Sum" for Well Rounded and Arkist's two typically Apple Pips numbers "Rendezvous" and "Fill My Coffee"emight be pushed to guess what would come of their union. For their first collaboration, though, it seems as though Kidkut's influence has prevailed. Both of One Year Later's tracks adopt his house and garage beatsemarking Hotflush's continued interest in the realms of bass-driven house it broached with George Fitzgerald last year. The EP's opener and title track is deep four to the floor, lined with funky fashioned percussion and fleshy melancholic-tinged atmospherics. On the flip, "Vanilla Imitate" takes the garage formula of hat-led breaks and broken vocal samples and adds an Atlantic-deep Arkist bassline to create something utterly delightful. Much like Lando Kal's Hotflush effort "Further," it's soulful tense-less garage. More please.
